Write your Congressman/Senator, even if just to say hi. You'll feel involved, and it's pretty cool getting a letter on Congressional letterhead.

Favorite Album all time: The Who; Who's Next
Band I enjoy making fun of the most: I had N'Sync here for the longest time, and I decided to change that.  What makes my opinion any more relavant than yours?  I was reading the Coachella forum a lot recently and two things that struck me were that music people are very opinionated and those opinions are all over the place.  I guess that's why they call them opinions instead of facts...  Okay...  So...  If you're listening to Fifty Cent, N'Sync, Madona, Brittany, or Modest Mouse then good on you.  Music Rocks.  If you're at the next Modest Mouse show in San Diego look for me, if you're at the next Ashlee Simpson show in San Diego, don't...  ;)

Funniest moment in the back country: We are helping a German couple pack up their camp after a couple of bears had come through and went up the tree where their food was hanging. The bear had one bag of a pair that were counter-balanced. It was pitch black, we had packed up their gear and we're ready to leave when New-Guy Kurt decided that we shouldn't leave the extra bag of food for the bears. He jumped up and pulled it down. It was STILL TIED TO THE OTHER BAG! So down came the bag the bear was eating from too. There are two things you aren't supposed to do during a bear encounter. Take a bears food or run. We did both! That's why Kurt is called New-Guy.

Parental philosophies:

You can really screw up your kid, even without trying. Everything you do for your child, to your child, with your child, in front of your child, without your child, in spite of your child, or despite your child will make some sort of impression on your child. Don't think it won't. I think back on childhood which isn't too hard since I'm still going through it. I have the most random and screwy memories. It really blows me away the things I remember and the things I don't. I think I'm going to call my counselor now.

My whole day can go from absolutly crappy to perfect with one smile from Sam. It can warm me to my core when he reaches up to hold my hand. People belittle parents who try to isolate their children from certain types of language or scenes or elements of society. Children are the only perfect, pure, and innocent beings on the planet. Every parent knows their child will someday be bluntly initiated to societies ills. I think we just want to postpone that moment as long as we can to allow the purity to last as long as it can.

Things I deal with well: Emergencies, pressure, antagonism, dead lines, tests, speaking intelligently on several topics, pulling my weight, driving long distances, walking long distances, different opinions than my own, being stoic , planning events, being wrong, losing.
Things I don't deal with well: Death, bad drivers, my own short comings, loud music in my neighborhood, being interupted when I'm concentrating on something, disappointment, pain to my child/wife/family, revealing emotions, being the big brother, taking a back seat in planning, being a passenger, sore winners, flat out ignorance (I mean just DUH!) Santana winds (If you live in SoCal you know what this means), my ego, your ego, having cold feet.

You are one of people who now know more then they care to about me...
