'Bout to go Postal!

by Mandi 14. October 2009 10:14

So, my last posting was about a credit card that had just raised the rate on me or I could close the account and not be able to use the card. I chose to keep the card open and take the higher rate. Well...NOW, effective immediately, i.e. TODAY, that account has been closed. The "bank" decided to close it based on some information they saw on my credit report. The person I talked to said it was the Equifax report. I ordered my Equifax report and there are no negative comments on my report. Of course, I couldn't see what my credit score is with Equifax because you have to PAY for that!! (What a friggin' scam that is...we'll give you a free report, but you'll have to pay to get your credit score. As if that isn't the real reason people want to see their credit report in the first place. Scam I tell ya!!) I know for a fact that my credit score isn't bad. Certainly no reason to immediately, without warning, close my account. They told me a letter is coming in the mail to tell me of their decision. Oh, gee...THANKS. The friggin' least they could do is let me know ahead of time that by such and such date, your account will be closed. I'd still be pissed, but at least there wouldn't be this slap in the face, rude ass awakening when I went to go try to use the card.

On so many levels, this just seems wrong. How can they just shut you down like that? Especially, when I have good credit and pay my bills on time. It's no wonder people go postal. This kind of shit happens and just ruins the day. Puts me in a bad mood. I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. And this is only one card. I wonder how many other cards are going to close the account just cuz. And why should I continue to try to keep my credit in good standing or pay my bills on time when the very people that I'm paying, can just willy nilly decide that they want to close my account, effective immediately? And let's not forget the killing they are making on the interest rates that they are charging us now. Yeah, maybe I shouldn't be using credit and the interest rates are part of the deal, but seriously...they don't need to jack the rates and lower the credit limits.

I wonder how many of us feel that we're doing the best we can to get by and it just isn't enough. We cut back, cut down and cut out and we just can't seem to get a break. It's very frustrating!
