Today is one of the SAHM (stay at home mom) days that I will cherish forever. At first, I was upset with the noisy contractors working on a neighbor’s condo. Forty five minutes into her nap, they dropped something on the ground outside in the courtyard. It slammed to the ground. My first thought was it was a wooden pallet, but it might have been a sheet of plywood or something. Who knows. All I know is that it was a LOUD, SUDDEN noise that woke my little girl up, 45 minutes into her nap.
So I went into her room and picked her up from her crib and we rocked in our rocker. If she did get back to sleep, I had no intention of putting her back down in her crib. I decided I was going to take her into my room and let her sleep on our bed. I’ve done this before when it seems like there is a lot of noise in the courtyard (her window faces out to thecourtyard) that would wake or prevent her from getting a good nap. But when I tried to put her down on our bed, she woke up. So I lay down next to her. And tried patting her on her back to get her to lay down. Instead, she pulled herself over to me and then lay on top of me. And that’s where she fell asleep. And that’s where I found myself falling asleep too. When I woke up almost an hour later, I tried to move her off to the side, but she woke up again and moved back into position. We stayed there for another half an hour. I was able to move her off to the side but in doing so she woke up a little bit, so I pulled her close and we laid on our sides and she slept a little bit more, but with my arm as her pillow. While she was lying there, I got to brush her hair out of her face and play with her little hands. She’s growing up so fast! So I’m not upset with those noisy contractors anymore. I almost want to thank them and today will be one of the days I cherish.
